(EVERETT, WA.) -- A homeless man accused of attacking and trying to rape a woman in Snohomish as she walked to work early one morning has had his bail set at $500,000.
Paul Williams, 36, was arrested for investigation of second-degree rape in last week's attack. He made his first court appearance in a Snohomish County courtroom Thursday.
KOMO-TV in Seattle reported that Williams told the judge he wants his case dismissed because he does not know the woman who made the allegations of the assault and that he has never met her in his life.
The report added that police do have DNA evidence in the case, found on the woman's underwear, but additional testing is needed before it can rule out the suspect or tie him to the attack.
Detectives are waiting the results of the additional testing.
