(SNOHOMISH, WA.) -- It's big, it's bold, it's bodacious and beautiful and dare we say, buttery and full of joyous booya?
Yes sir, the long awaited and much anticipated annual Kla Ha Ya Days festival is underway in the lovely, historic community of Snohomish.
The festival got underway Wednesday with the big carnival at Harvey Field. The show runs July 12-16 and it most certainly is a major hoot n' holler for the whole family, assuming the family is not too dysfunctional (which these days, as you know, can be a big if).
As part of the festival there's this swell parade that all the Chronicle-ites attend every year (including the Sanctified Sisters, back up singers for the Chronicle house band).
Also, many of the politicians that are running for local offices usually march in the parade because, you know, lotta voters are there and it's free exposure to the thousands and thousands of the great unwashed. Will they kiss babies and smile for photos with grandma?
Nobody knows. Politicians, as you know can be a surly and distasteful lot or sweet as Tupelo honey when they want to be. All depends.
The parade is this Saturday July 15 and it starts at 10:30 am and runs until noon up First street. Get there early with your lawn chair and jug of joy juice or otherwise you'll have to fight your way into the front lines and it won't be pretty as you're doing it.
Lotta good fighting men went down trying to get to the front line to get a good gander at the parade.
The festival also has a pretty good car and motorcycle show, a 5K and 10K run and many other oodles of things to see and do.
We'd list them all but we got places to go, people to see, things to do bro.
Check it all out at www.klahayadays.com.
And so there ya go.
