(KENT, WA.) – The picture alone is worth a thousand words. One very happy little boy, no make that ecstatic with joy, that a guy he only recently met bought him a new bicycle.

Kent Police unveiled the story on their Facebook page.

During a recent fireworks emphasis patrol Officer Clift (no first name given) encounters a little boy at the Birch Creek Apartments who was riding a bike “that was literally on its last wheel”.

Officer Clift and the boy began chatting and during that conversation Clift suggested that the boy “needed a new bike.” Which was true.

The officer asked the boy where he lived and the boy said he didn’t know his building number and that he lived with his grandma, so Clift asked him to ask his grandma for their address, which he did, letting the boy know he’d “bring him a new bike when he came back to work the next day.”

And that is what he did. On July 3rd he delivered the bike to the boy and that delivery is the photo you see at upper right.

A priceless moment frozen in time. Both officer Clift and the boy will remember that moment for the rest of their lives.

That’s the way moments of joy work.
