Island County man dies in motorcycle accident on Whidbey Island

(LANGLEY, WA.) – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says an Island County man lost his life near Langley, Washington when his motorcycle, for reasons unknown crashed into a guardrail and he was thrown from the bike.
The accident happened about 11:30 pm Monday night on State Route 525 about 2 miles north of the small island County town of Langley on Whidbey Island.
The patrol report says a yellow 2000 Honda VFR motorcycle was traveling northbound on SR 525 approaching Crawford Road when “the motorcycle veered to the right and struck the guardrail.” The rider was ejected and the motorcycle continued into the southbound lane where it crashed into a green 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.
Killed in the accident was the motorcycle rider identified as 30-year old Joshua V. Bybee of Freeland, Washington a town of about 2,000 people located in the southern portion of Whidbey island.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, 36-year old Joseph L. Turner of Freeland was not injured. The WSP says the cause of the crash is under investigation.
