AMERICA’S FINANCIAL CRISIS: THE NEXT LEG DOWN
By Mike Whitney

June 05, 2009

Editor’s note: Mike Whitney is a financial writer based here in the Sky Valley. His work has been published both in the U.S. and abroad. The following analysis of America’s current economic struggle is reprinted here with permission.

No wonder people look at Washington and know this city is broken.”

"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members."
Mahatma Ghandi

"Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members -- the last, the least, the littlest."
Cardinal Roger Mahony in a 1998 letter “Creating a Culture of life”

Last month The Farm - a Christian ministry based in Snohomish known for years for reaching out and helping the less fortunate - did something so sweet, so thoughtful and so caring it should restore confidence in the heart of the most hardened cynic in the basic goodness of human kind.
