How the 1% stays the 1%

Back in the 1960’s there was a comic strip named Pogo. One of the most insightful strips was a distilled discussion of human foibles, in which Pogo announced, “We have met the enemy and he is us!”
When it comes to the national debate over the 99% vs. 1%, we may not like the growing chasm between corporate elites and the rest of us – but we’ve sure made it easy for them to keep it that way.

She realizes that virtually all of her customers are unemployed alcoholics and, as such, can no longer afford to patronize her bar.
To solve this problem, she comes up with a new marketing plan that allows her customers to drink now, but pay later.

I'm a former banker, a one percenter, and I'm mad as hell too.
Let's be clear. The Occupy movement is not a product of frustration, as President Obama, Treasury Secretary Geithner, and now Eric Cantor have suggested.
Frustration is passive; anger is active. Martin Luther King was not frustrated.

(OLYMPIA, WA) -- Several factors are influencing our state’s tax collections outlook, which dictates the overall state budget. Unfortunately, the record $32.4 billion 2011-13 budget passed last May will likely be adjusted downward based on lagging tax collections due to continued job losses and hesitant consumers.
