ONE MAN WHO SAYS MEDIA NEVER TOLD US THE WHOLE TRUTH DURING DEBT CEILING WAR

August 05, 2011

After reading Paul Begala’s piece at the end of July, we’d have to agree the Sky Valley Chronicle is probably, along with many other news joints, guilty as charged with never providing any (or enough) historical context during the infamous debt ceiling war in Washington.

KICK EM’ WHILE THEY’RE DOWN POLITICS
By John Burbank

May 26, 2011

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better example of "kick-em when they're down" politics this year than the workers' compensation legislation rushed through Olympia on Monday (May 23).

By the governor’s own estimate, the bill will take about $1 billion that injured workers would have received over the next five years, and give it to their employers instead.

April 27, 2011

In March, Walmart donated, and the City accepted, a $1,000 donation.

This was before the City Council made a final decision on if, and how, Monroe would accept Walmart’s plans for building a new superstore within the city limits.
