RULES OF THE FORUM
The Sky Valley Chronicle’s forum area is your opportunity to participate with your Sky Valley neighbors in the electronic version of Ireland’s great neighborhood pubs (sans the great beer) and to experience real grass roots participatory democracy. It doesn’t get more local than this unless you are face to face.
The forum is your chance exchange ideas, express views, provide needed information to other valley residents, be exposed to the different thoughts and views of others, be informed with new information you were unaware of, do some good for your community when the need arises and just have a heck of a good time for free.
Registration to participate in and use this forum is FREE! We do insist however that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.
Although the administrators and moderators of the Sky Valley Forum will attempt to the best of their abilities to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is possible a few may squeak by us from time to time. Caveat emptor.
All messages posted in the forum express the views of the author, and neither the owners or staff members of www.skyvalleychronicle.com or Sky Valley Media Group, LLC shall be held responsible for the content of any message.
FOUL LANGUAGE, SEX AND OTHER SUCH STUFF
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or anything else that may violate any laws or basic common decency.
Heated debates are fine. Getting your dander up a bit is fine. But to keep things civil and decent we cannot tolerate foul language, personal attacks, nasty inflammatory posts, etc. You know what we mean. Our decision is final in these matters.
Please keep in mind that unlike weekly or daily newspapers that young kids do not read, every kid who has a computer has access to this web site. We’d like to set an example for these kids of what intelligent, reasonable adults should act and sound like when they talk with each other.
Thus it goes without saying we do not allow posts that are sexually graphic in nature or in other ways violate general community standards for a family oriented newspaper, and we all know what those standards are.
However legitimate discussion of news or other current event topics that have sexual matters at the heart of a legitimate news story (i.e., a married congressman who preaches family values getting caught going into a hotel with three hookers is obviously a legit topic for discussion.)
We shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards for the purpose of this forum. We reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
OTHER POSTING NO-NO’s
Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) nonsense posts, etc. Multiple or repeated posting is not allowed.
Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy or how to hack into computer networks or how to build a bomb or do other illegal things are not allowed. Attempting to sell anything on the forum is prohibited.
Each person is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed. We can tell when that happens and offenders will get a warning.
We reserve the right to remove offensive posts immediately and without notice. We shall be the sole arbitrator of what constitutes an offensive post. All posting shall be in English.
ADVERTISING THREADS AND REFERAL LINKS
You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal.
You cannot post advertisements or notices for contests. We do not allow people to post threads here that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds or donations. Explicit advertising and soliciting is prohibited.
We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules. Access to the forum is obviously a privilege, not a right. Fair warning: any offender that needs banning will be banned for 30 days the first time. On the 2nd offense the ban is permanent.
Animated avatars are not allowed. Sorry.
While these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way. That’s it until we think of something else.
