First National Bank of Omaha drops the NRA credit card
February 23, 2018

NRA head Wayne LaPierre. His organization now has one less credit card to offer members.
(LINCOLN, NEB.) – In the wake of the Stoneman-Douglas school massacre in Florida the nation's largest privately-owned bank says it will stop producing credit cards for the National Rifle Association due to customer feedback.

The Nebraska-based First National Bank of Omaha has announced it will not renew its contract to issue the group's NRA Visa Card, according to spokesman Kevin Langin who issued a statement that said, "Customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA.”

Langin did not say what type of feedback the company had received. The announcement came after a progressive news website ThinkProgress listed the bank as a company that supports the NRA.

The website said First National Bank offered two NRA cards with a $40 bonus and promoted it as "enough to reimburse your one-year NRA membership!"

CBS News said the bank company released its statement “dozens of times on Twitter in response to other users who called on the company to sever its ties with the NRA. Some users who identified themselves as customers pledged to take their business elsewhere.”
