Motorcycle Rider From Aberdeen Dies On Interstate 5

(LAKEWOOD, WA.) -- The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says a man from Aberdeen, Washington died in an accident on Interstate 5 Friday.
The incident occurred just after 11:00 am northbound on I-5 in the Lakewood area of Pierce County at Milepost 122.
The patrol report says a yellow 2006 Buell XBR motorcycle was northbound on the freeway approaching Berkley in the left lane and a red 200 Mini Cooper was also northbound and also approaching Berkley in the left lane when traffic began to slow down ahead of the motorcycle and the Cooper.
The report says the motorcycle was "following too close" to the Cooper and crashed into it. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 22-year old Austin Mullikin died at the scene.
The driver of the Mini Cooper, a 45-year old women from Olympia, Washington was not injured.
The roadway was closed for over four hours as investigators processed the accident scene. The patrol report lists "following too close" as the cause of the accident.
