(SNOHOMISH, WA.) – The Washington State Transportation Dept. (WSDOT) says Westbound US 2 between the State Route 204 interchange to approximately the on-ramp from Homeacres Road will be closed this weekend.
See map at right.
This closure is part of WSDOT’s massive paving and preservation project on US2 between Bickford Avenue and the I-5 interchange.
The closure begins at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1st. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 4 a.m. Monday, June 4th. This closure makes up for the May 18-19 weekend closure that was rained out.
This weekend’s detour route has the WSDOT “reversing traffic” on 20th Street Southeast to go from eastbound to westbound only.
The westbound on-ramps to US 2 from SR 204 and 20th Street Southeast will also be closed to prevent traffic from accessing the work area on the eastern end of the Hewitt Avenue trestle.
Big backups expected
WSDOT expects “big backups” as the result of this closure of the westbound US 2 lanes so drivers are advised to adjust their travel plans.
Again, WSDOT contractor crews will close all lanes of westbound US 2 between the State Route 204 interchange and 51st Avenue Southeast from 7 p.m. Friday, June 1st to 4 a.m.Monday, June 4th.
Ramps to westbound US 2 from SR 204 and 20th Street Southeast will also be closed.
This is the first of six weekend closures required to complete a critical preservation and paving project on US 2.
