(PIERCE COUNTY, WA.) – The first word came at 8:24 am Monday in a tweet from the Pierce County Sheriff’s office on what had been discovered in a nice, middle class residential area of University Place; a neighborhood with manicured lawns and well kept houses:
“Detectives investigating double homicide in the 6200 block of 63rd St. W. in University Place. Neighbor called 911 to report vehicle parked in roadway with 2 occupants that appeared to be passed out; deputies found 2 unidentified male victims deceased from gunshot wounds.”
See photo at upper right of white car in which the two men were found dead.
A little over two hours later Monday morning came this from the sheriff’s office: “Detectives are looking for info on any suspicious persons or vehicles seen in the area - especially if you may have seen 2 men running north of homicide scene near Alameda Ave, 56th St, Cirque Dr W. Please check your security cameras in this area between 4 am and 6 am.”
Neighbors did not report hearing gunshots, according to a sheriff’s office spokesman. The medical examiner's office will establish identities of the men and cause and manner of their deaths.
It was not immediately clear if either of the men lived in that general area or how long the car had been there on the street situated at an unusual angle.
