Police investigate murder of woman near Seattle homeless camp

(SEATTLE, WA.) -- Seattle Police detectives are investigating an apparent homicide near an International District homeless camp.
Officers responded to the 900 block of South Jackson Street just after 6 pm Wednesday on a report of a woman who had been injured.
"When officers arrived they found a woman who had a severe injury to the head. Officers called for Seattle Fire Department Medics who transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center where she was declared dead," sad an SPD statement.
Homicide detectives went to work interviewing possible witnesses to develop a suspect description. The King County medical examiner’s office will determine cause of death.
Police did not say if a weapon was recovered from the scene or if the woman had sustained any other visible injuries.
