President Trump in still frame from official White House video talking about the United States “finally and officially” recognizing Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel.
(NATIONAL) – So what brand of preacher men and pulpit screamers does the Trump administration like to hang with?
Here’s the opening line of a rather interesting new report in the Daily Beast:
“Robert Jeffress said Jews can’t be saved and John Hagee said Hitler was doing God’s will. That’s who addressed the opening.” Meaning the grand opening of the new US Embassy in Jerusalem. It gets better. Here’s a few more choice gems from the report:
~ Robert Jeffries is the sweetheart that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said was a "religious fanatic" inciting against religious minorities, including Mormons, like Romney, and Jews.
~ Romney tweeted, “Robert Jeffress says ‘you can’t be saved by being a Jew,’ and ‘Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell.’ He’s said the same about Islam. Such a religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the United States Embassy in Jerusalem.”
~ Jeffries doesn’t limit his intolerance to Jews and Mormons and Muslims. He has suggested that the Catholic Church was misled by Satan (which should surprise the dickens out of not only the Pope but the estimated 1.2 billion Roman Catholics in the world).
~ Jeffries was a major voice of support for Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and was a member of his “evangelical advisory board.”
~ Jeffries once claimed President Barack Obama was “paving the way” for the Antichrist and that the Muslim faith “promotes pedophilia.”
~ Jeffries was far from the only “contentious religious leader at the event.” Also in the audience, though not invited to speak, was Israel’s chief Sephardic rabbi, Yitzhak Yosef, “who faces possible charges for inciting to racism after a March speech in which he compared African-Americans to monkeys.”
Nothin’ like dat sweet, kind old time religion to get you up and rollin’ for the day. Read it here and weep kids.
