Shorewood High Student Badly Injured When Hit By Semi

(SHORELINE, WA.) -- The Snohomish County Sheriff's office says a 14-year old Shorewood High School student, who was riding his bike to school was critically injured Wednesday after a collision with a big semi-truck.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 am. Witnesses said the teen was westbound on N175th St on the sidewalk on the north side of the street and was approaching Aurora Ave North.
A semi truck was also westbound on N175th St and was making a right turn to go northbound on Aurora when the collision occurred.
"The boy received critical injuries as a result of the accident and was taken to Harborview Hospital," said Sgt. Cindi Wrest.
Local TV broadcast reports said the boy, who was wearing a protective helmet, was dragged by the big truck for around 40 feet. West said the specific factors contributing to the accident were not immediately known Wednesday morning.
