Third woman sues Olympia area soccer club over alleged sexual assault by a coach
May 17, 2018

Chronicle staff

(OLYMPIA, WA.) – A third woman has come forward to sue the Black Hills Football Club, an Olympia area youth soccer club, alleging the club failed to prevent her from being sexually assaulted by a coach when she was a teenager.

A complaint was filed in Thurston County Superior Court last week by a woman identified in court documents only as C.B., alleging she was sexually assaulted as a teenager during an out-of-town tournament in 2005, according to a report in The Olympian newspaper.

The complaint alleges a soccer coach invited her to his hotel room for “a strategy session” one night and then violently raped her and then told the victim he would “destroy her life” if she told anyone about what had occurred.

The report says later the girl’s mother confronted the coach and shortly after that he left the club, according to the complaint which also alleges club officials made “no inquiries” as to what led to the confrontation between the mother and the coach and that club officials made no mention of the coach’s sudden departure.

The coach who is alleged to have committed the rape is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

The newspaper report says the attorney for the woman, Darrell Cochran is also representing two other woman who have filed lawsuits against the soccer club alleging they too were sexually assaulted but by a different soccer coach.
