(SEATTLE, WA.) -- It was one of those awful, grinding head-on collisions you hope to never be involved in. It totaled both vehicles, badly injured a Mercer Island man and killed a man from Issaquah, Washington.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says the crash occurred just after 3 am Sunday morning on Interstate 90 in Seattle.

Tha patrol report says a white 2018 Subaru CrossTrek was headed the wrong way, westbound on Interstate 90 in the eastbound lanes while a tan 1995 Honda Accord was on the ramp from Southbound Interstate 5 to eastbound I-90 when the Subaru hit the Honda Accord head-on, totaling both vehicles.

Both vehicles came to a stop blocking lanes 1 and 2 on the freeway for over 4 hours.

Injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle was the driver of the Subaru identified as 20-year old Alexander S. Chung of Mercer Island, Washington.

Killed was the driver of the Honda identified as 25-year old Mohamed S. Alhethail of Issaquah, Washington. The patrol report says he was not wearing a seat belt at time of impact.

The patrol report says it is believed that drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the crash and that charges are pending against the driver of the Subaru.
