Trump White House wants resignation of one of two Washington State U.S. attorneys

U.S. Attorney Michael Ormsby of the Eastern Wash. District located in Spokane.
(SPOKANE, WA.) -- The country's new U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions wants one of Washington state's two U.S. attorneys to offer his resignation.

The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that among the 45 other federal prosecutors Sessions wants out of the department, is the Federal Prosecutor for the Eastern District of Washington, U.S. Attorney Michael Ormsby in Spokane.

Ormsby was appointed by former President Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2010. He had been a partner at Seattle-based law firm K&L Gates since 1988.

The report says Seattle lawyer Annette Hayes will remain acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington because she was not residentially appointed.

She was appointed as interim U.S. attorney in 2015 by Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch. She joined the office in 1997 as an assistant U.S. attorney in the criminal division.

The Journal report says it's not clear whether Ormsby has offered to resign or if Trump has identified his replacement.
