(WATERVILLE, WA.) -- The Washington State Patrol (WSP) says a Wenatchee, Washington man died over the weekend as the result of a very common motorcycle accident: "failed to negotiate a curve."

The WSP report says the fatal accident happened just before midnight on Monday May 29 about 5 miles west of Waterville, Washington in Douglas County at milepost 145 on SR 2.

A gray 2016 Harley Davidson "FLHXS Street Glide Special" motorcycle was westbound on Highway 2 at MP 145 when for reasons not known it "failed to negotiate a curve striking the guardrail and ejecting the driver."

Pronounced dead at the scene was the driver identified as 44-year old Shannon M. Herd of Wenatchee, WA.

Cause of the accident is under investigation.
