NEW VIEWS OF MT. INDEX RIVERSITES LANDSLIDE AREA
June 24, 2015
(INDEX, WA.) -- Below are some impressive new HD aerial (drone) views of the Mt. Index Riversites landslide area taken over a two year period by YouTube user SoEoHo and compiled into one 11 minute video.
It's a very well done video and gives the viewer an expansive, new look at the big landslide that hit the Mt. Index Riversites in mid January 2014 with full force.
The area got slammed hard when, after weeks of pounding rain in Dec. 2013 and Jan. 2014, the earth began to slide on Thursday Jan. 12 and down came tons of mud, rocks, gravel, trees, old dead logs and wild shrubs.
For a time the slide blocked a portion of the Mt. Index River Road, a private road which residents need to get in and out of their community.
By Sunday the 12th around 80 residents were using generators and other means to keep warm and keep some lights on as the area had been without electricity since the previous Friday.
