(MONROE, WA.) -- In June of last year work got underway on the biggest project covered by the school bond that was approved by voters earlier that year -- the $69 million modernization project at Park Place Middle School on Main Street in Monroe.
A statement from the school district at the time said, "This work is the culmination of efforts of many over several months. They have made a priority of modernizing Park Place Middle to meet the needs of our students – Monroe’s future leaders – and making the most of every dollar."
Among other upgrades, the kids at Park Place got a new auxiliary gym.
On Monday of this week the kids cut the ribbon at the official ribbon cutting ceremony and went down in school history as the first PE class to use the new gym.
