(SNOHOMISH, WA.) -- On Thursday, city employees took their trusty saws and grappling hooks and whatnot and brought down a beautiful Grand Fir for this year's downtown holiday tree.
It is a fine looking tree, as trees go and will fit the bill perfectly for its intended use.
The tree was generously donated by Wintergreen Tree Farm in Machias, which was a pretty standup thing to do. So if you need a tree for Christmas, you know where to go. It's the least you could do.
Friday morning the freshly cut holiday tree was placed in the downtown tree stand located at 1029 First Street.
Santa (the big guy himself, not some cheap department store knock off) will be dropping by for the annual community tree lighting ceremony (a 20 year event and counting) on Nov. 25th.
The fun starts at 11 am with Santa's annual cruise down First Street.
The cruise (kinda short, actually) starts at Avenue D and proceeds east to the Avenue A Gazebo. Afterwards you can join the big, bearded jovial fellow for live entertainment (we hear a rumor that Santa might be doin' some hip-hop songs this year to recorded music tracks) and as always free photos until 4:45pm.
Gotta bring your own camera though. Then the Community Tree Lighting takes place at 5:00 pm near First Street & Avenue B.
As always this gig is gonna be more fun that a barrel full of rhesus monkeys hopped up on cheap wine. And you know how much fun that can be!
