Snohomish JC Penney Store To Close
March 18, 2017

(SNOHOMISH, WA.) -- The JC Penney Store at 255 Pine Avenue at Pilchuck Landing in Snohomish is one of 138 stores across the nation that the large American retailer says it will close in an effort to cut costs and grow sales at its strongest locations.

The release of the list of stores and their locations comes just a few weeks after Penney's said it would close up to 140 stores this year.

Similar decisions to close multiple locations have been announced by Sears, Macy's and Kmart. Mainstream department stores have seen stiff competition in recent years from stores located in off-price malls as well as Amazon.

Penney's will also close the following stores in Oregon:

Astoria Downtown: Astoria
Grants Pass Shopping Center: Grants Pass
La Grande Downtown: La Grande
Downtown Pendleton: Pendleton
The Dalles Main Street: The Dalles
