(WINTHROP, WA.) -- The Wash. State Patrol (WSP) says a man from Snohomish, WA was injured in eastern Washington when a deer ran out in front of his motorcycle.

The incident happened Monday around 10:20 am on State Route 20 some 7 miles west of Winthrop, Washington.

The patrol report says a yellow & black 1999 BMW R1100 motorcycle was headed westbound on SR 20 and had just passed another vehicle and returned to the westbound lane when a deer stepped out onto the road.

The patrol report says the motorcycle hit the deer and the "rider laid the motorcycle down and both came to rest on the eastbound shoulder."

The driver and sole occupant of the bike was identified as Robert J. Chambers, 47, of Snohomish, Washington. He was transported by aid car to Three Rivers Hospital.

It was not known how the deer fared in the accident.
