(SNOHOMISH, WA.) – The Marshland Flood Control District will be cutting trees to protect their river levee at the location of the former Seattle-Snohomish Mill located at 9525 Airport Way in Snohomish.

Per U.S. Army Corps of Engineer standards, which discourages allowing trees to grow on levees, the District had a forester look at the trees on the levee at the mill site.

The forester then prepared a report for their removal. “The District ran that by the County, which determined it was exempt from regulation since it was following Corps requirements,” said a statement issued by the city of Snohomish.

The tree cutting will take about three days. Also, the mill site owner has given the District permission to burn the slash on site, so that will be happening in the not too distant future, said the city’s statement.
