GOOD SIZED CROWD OPENS SKI SEASON AT STEVENS PASS
November 20, 2009
(STEVENS PASS) -- Amidst a fluffy, dense cloud of continuous snowfall the Stevens Pass Ski Resort opened for business Thursday to a good crowd, considering the current economic climate.
About 2,000 enthusiastic skiers and boarders showed up to try the slopes for the season opener at Sky Valley’s “top of the valley” venerable winter sports destination spot along Highway 2.
That’s about a third off what last year’s opening day was like, but a really good crowd nonetheless considering all that’s going on with American’s pocketbooks and jobs.
At the outset of the season hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. No night operations yet and early season conditions exist. It is recommended that skiers and boarders stay to groomed runs.
The Nordic Center opens December 19th.
Day lifts that are open are: SkyLine, Hogsback, Daisy, Brooks, Kehr's Chair & Tye Mill. Those are subject to change based on conditions and lift usage.
The ski run groomers report, once the season gets underway with full operations, will be updated between 5:00am and 6:00am daily.
Runs are groomed nightly and the groomer’s report reflects what was groomed during the previous night, after the resort has been closed to guest access.
The groomer’s reports can be viewed here: http://www.stevenspass.com/
