(SULTAN, WA.) -- Nominations are being accepted now through May 22nd for the Cities of Sultan and Gold Bar’s Annual Mayor’s Youth Achievement Award.

The award recognizes the accomplishments of high school age students who live in the Sultan School District. Home schooled students are also eligible.

The goal of the award is to emphasize the positive achievements of the area’s young people by recognizing those who have distinguished themselves in community service, politics, arts, entertainment, academics, athletics and citizenship or who have overcome obstacles to accomplish their goals, accrding to a statement issued by the city of Sultan.

“The Sky Valley has teachers and students who win regional and national awards. It is an absolute joy to see how much good these students accomplish during their high school years,” said Brian Copple, Sky Valley Chamber President.

The Mayors of Sultan and Gold Bar will present separate awards at Sultan High School’s Annual Academic Awards Ceremonies on Thursday, June 1st beginning at 6:30 PM at Sultan High School.

Nominations will be evaluated based on a description of the student’s achievements. Only those students who are nominated on official forms will be considered to receive the award.

Nomination forms are available at Sultan and Gold Bar City Halls, the Sultan Library, Visitor Information Center and and Sultan High School.

Nomination forms must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2017 to Donna Murphy, Grants and Volunteer Coordinator, City of Sultan, 319 Main Street, PO Box 1199, Sultan WA. 98294, or email to donna.murphy@ci.sultan.wa.us or FAX to 360.793.3344, or to Denise Beaston at Gold Bar City Hall, 360.793.1101.
